Prompt egg collection and properly organized storage help improve chick hatchability.
Collect eggs 2 times a day. Remove eggs from the nests while they are still warm.
Place the collected eggs in a clean, dry, cool room. Store eggs horizontally and turn them periodically. The room temperature should not exceed 12 °C, and relative humidity should be 75–80%.
Eggs laid within the preceding 5–7 days are best for incubation. Select eggs of normal shape, without defects (cracks, rough surfaces or calcium deposits), that are neither too large nor too small. If more than 50% of an egg is soiled, wash it carefully, taking care not to damage the outer protective layer, the cuticle, which covers the shell.
