Egg and chicken-meat production is growing in Russia

Poultry-meat and egg production in Russia is doing well, according to the National Union of Poultry Producers (NSP).

The industry association estimates that poultry output is outpacing demand by 3%, and there are grounds to believe this trend will continue until the end of this year.

In February alone, poultry-meat production grew by more than 10% year on year, the largest increase in the past 3 years. Another important trend is the decline in hatching-egg imports: domestically produced eggs already accounted for an estimated 84% in 2021. Last year alone, Russian poultry producers provided additional production of around 100 million tonnes of hatching eggs.

By the end of 2022, the share of Russian products in this segment will rise by another few percentage points, reaching 100% in 1–1.5 years. The government is encouraging the supply of Russian breeding stock to poultry farms.
